Unemployment Insurance 

Once of our most requested policies is for Income Protection Insurance that insures you against unemployment   The increased popularity of this type of insurance is hardly surprising with the world economic situation  - there are no longer 'jobs for life'.

With the trend towards moving jobs more regularly, you may find that you are not entitled to a statutory unemployment payout --  and even if you are entitled to either statutory or even the more valuable, contractural payouts -- those payouts rarely last for long.  It is far better  to arrange to get a monthly income that allows you some breathing space  - one less pressure when trying to find alternative employment.  

The criteria for unemployment benefit payouts often exclude a period of 2/3 months from the commencement of the policy when a claim cannot be made - and your unemployment insurance policy may not payout if you leave voluntarily.  Policies usually pay their benefits for periods of 1 -2 years.

Unemployment insurance monthly premiums are generally pretty low  -- and unemployment protection insurance can often be combined with sickness and injury insurance - giving total peace of mind.  

Option available with your unemployment insururance may include:-P

  • Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance (MPPI) - normally covers mortgage payments only
    Mortgage Payment Protection is often offered by mortgage companies at the time you take the mortgage - don't be presurised into taking their insurance without first checking our  mortgage insurance offerings  - which will often give much cheaper insurance alternatives.
  • Payment Protection Insurance PPI - usually covers linked credit cards and loans only
    PPI  has gained a bad reputation as being mis-sold to people when taking out credit cards - it has its place - but the policy exclusions and charges have often deemed to be unreasonable
  • ASU - Covers a percentage of you income in case of Accident, Sickness  & Unemployment  
  • There is likely to be a non-claim period after sign-up and some illnesses may not be covered.
  • Income Protection - covers lost income
